On July 21, 2020, European Union leaders agreed to a Coronavirus (COVID-19) recovery package worth 750 billion euros, following four days of tense negotiations. The package will be geared toward helping EU member states that have been worst-hit by the Coronavirus pandemic, such as Spain and Italy. While the package will be allocated to several different programs, the bulk of the funds will be distributed through 360 billion euros worth of recovery and resilience loans and 312.5 billion euros of recovery and resilience grants.
