Decline of hotel occupancy rate during the COVID-19 outbreak in China 2020, by type

According to a survey conducted among more than 600 lodging enterprises in China in February 2020, the average occupancy rate of hotels during coronavirus outbreak plummeted by 79 percent, compared to the same period last year. Guesthouses also reported a decline in occupancy by 70 percent.

91 percent hotels, 6 percent guesthouses, and 3 percent apartment hotels;
32 percent five-star hotels or equivalent, 22 percent four-star hotels or equivalent, 19 percent three-star hotels or equivalent, and 27 percent budget hotels;
43 percent non-eco hotels and 57 percent eco hotels;
66 percent non-chain hotels, 12 percent domestic chained-brand hotels, and 22 percent international chained-brand hotels.
