In May 2020, Nvidia announced the A100 chip, becoming the world's largest processor in terms of transistor count with 54 billion transistors. However, in July 2020, the British chip designer, Graphcore, unveiled the Colossus MK2, a processor that has 59.4 billion transistors. Graphcore is one of the top funded AI chip startups globally.
