While China’s digital payment market was dominated by Alipay and WeChat Pay, the mobile payment providers in Taiwan were still tangled up in the fight for the greatest market share. Relying on its massive user base in Taiwan, the instant communication app LINE took the largest share of the digital payment market in Taiwan. The domestic third-party payment service provider JKOPay secured a growing number of consumers by its high penetration in physical shops and restaurants. Meanwhile, backed up by the Taiwanese government, the official mobile payment app Taiwan Pay also rose sharply.
