By the end of June 2023, the market capitalization of the manufacturing industry on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange was more than 23 trillion yuan. The second largest industry was the IT sector with 2.6 trillion yuan market capitalization, followed by the finance sector with over 1.6 trillion yuan in issued shares. On the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, many of the traded companies were state-owned enterprises in which the Chinese government maintains control.
