Between 2014 and 2023, the number of cash withdrawals made in the European Union has fallen drastically. In 2014, the number of cash withdrawals amounted to 12.09 billion. However, it declined to approximately 6.05 billion in 2023. The decrease in cash withdrawals across the EU coincides with the increased use of payment cards at the point of sale (POS).
