The disposition to pay more for environmentally friendly products is highly related to the consumer's salary, according to a survey carried out in Brazil in 2019. For instance, 42 percent of Brazilian respondents who earned more than five minimum wages that year reported to be willing to purchase an eco-friendly product that was more expensive than the regular one. On the contrary, only 24 percent of respondents in the Latin American country who earned up to one minimum wage were ready to do the same. That year, that same group of respondents registered the highest share of consumers who do not buy environmentally friendly products regardless of the price, with 42 percent. Only 16 percent of Brazilians surveyed earning more than five minimum wages shared the same consumption habit.
