The average monthly food and non-food consumption per adult in urban areas from Tanzania amounted to 135 thousand Tanzanian shillings (TZS) (approximately 60 U.S. dollars) between December 2017 and November 2018. In rural areas, it was measured at 76 thousand TZS (circa 30 U.S. dollars). Furthermore, urban areas consumed more non-food than food goods, while the opposite was registered in rural areas.
