At the end of February 2020, the Italian government started to implement measures aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19. Among these measures, the closing of most workplaces forced whoever could to work from home. For many Italians this was a drastic change of habits from their work routine, but how widespread was remote working before the lockdown? A survey conducted in May 2020 tried to answer this question and found that the majority of respondents never worked from home before February. Only some 20 percent of the respondents declared to be working from home at least once a week.
