Illegal wildlife trade in Central and South America is a documented practice. From January 2012 to March 2018, there were approximately 170 reports of seizures involving jaguars, pumas, and ocelots in the region. Brazil was the country with the largest number of reports during that period, with 60 in total. Bolivia was the second most affected country by this type of crime, with 25 reports of seized wild cats or their body parts.
