Oil pipelines in Saudi Arabia have a daily capacity of 6.6 million barrels. Only three other countries were able to move greater volumes of crude oil on a daily basis, while total daily capacity of operational oil pipelines worldwide reached 99.1 million barrels of oil equivalent at the end of 2020.
Pipeline transportation is used to move gaseous or liquid products from their production or extraction site to refineries and ultimately end consumers. Oil pipelines measure between 100 and 1,220 millimeters in diameter and are made from steel or thermoplastic high-density polyethylene.
