Player trading refers to all the operations related to the transfers of footballers among different clubs. According to a study conducted in 2020, player transfers reached a value of 1.4 billion euros in the season 2019/2020. The research estimated that this figure will decrease significantly in 2020/2021, as the Serie A clubs will count on fewer resources for player trading than the previous season, due to the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Thus, the number of transfers is estimated to drop and the player trading's value is expected to decrease to 830 million euros.
