In 2022, franchise stores had both the highest retail sales value and the highest sales growth rate of all retail shop types in Shanghai municipality in China. The sales value of franchise stores amounted to around 419 billion yuan in 2022, up from 186 billion yuan in 2015. At the same time, retail sales at supermarkets increased only slightly, while hypermarkets even experienced a decline in sales.
