Effect on hotel sector KPIs in the U.S. due to COVID-19 2020-2021 vs. 2019
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic caused the hotel industry across the globe to take huge a hit. Key performance indicators of the hotel industry in the United states were predicted reflect a drop in performance across the board in 2020 and 2021 when compared to pre-pandemic levels. In 2021, U.S. hotels were forecasted to have an occupancy of 55.6 percent compared to 66.1 percent in 2019. Meanwhile, ADR was expected to reach 108.41 U.S. dollars, a drop from the 2019 figure of 131.11 U.S. dollars. Lastly, RevPAR in 2021, was predicted to fall to 60.24 U.S. dollars, compared to 2019's 86.63 U.S. dollars.
