The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 hit the sports industry hard - many professional leagues across the globe suspended their seasons and hundreds of thousands of jobs were put at risk as public sporting events across the world were cancelled. Analysis suggests the Toronto Maple Leafs could lose more than 42.23 million U.S. dollars as a result of lost ticketing revenue of postponed games due to the crisis.
