Digital rights agency Merlin paid out more than 981 million British pounds to its independent members in 2022, marking a rise compared to the 804 million paid out the prior year. Merlin collects digital royalty revenues for over 20,000 independent record labels, and has a significant influence in the digital music market worldwide. The amount of money paid in 2022 was more than 50 percent higher than the figure for 2020, which saw the company paying just nearly 646 million British pounds to its members.
