In a June 2020 survey, 22 percent of Canadians said that they had recently taken on more debt due to financial issues related to the coronavirus outbreak. Despite the recent impact on the economy from the coronavirus, this is lower than it was in December 2019, when 28 percent of respondents mentioned taking on new debt.
