The presence of fresh prepared food on supermarket shelves has been increasing, accompanied a broader choice in fresh delicatessen products such as sushi. This trend is reflected in the evolution of the share of spendings on prepared meals in French households. From 2008 to 2010, French people spent on average 38 percent of their prepared food budget on fresh food. A few years later, between 2015 and 2017, this proportion rose to 43 percent.
