During the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many prominent companies and individuals have pledged financial support towards affected businesses and workers. As of April 2020, Jack Dorsey, co-founder and CEO of Twitter and payment provider Square, has stated that he would donate one billion U.S. dollars in equity from his tech activities to a COVID-19 relief fund. This constitutes approximately 28 percent of Dorsey's net worth of 3.89 billion U.S. dollars. In contrast, Amazon's founder Jeff Bezos, the richest person in the world with a net worth of approximately 140 billion U.S. dollars, had pledged 100 million U.S. dollars, which amounts to 0.08 percent of his personal net worth. Since March 2020, Bezos' net worth actually increased due to the boom in online shopping during coronavirus pandemic.
