COVID-19 relief pledges by major tech companies as of April 2020
The global coronavirus epidemic has impacted businesses worldwide and governments and NGOs have been launching economic stimulus packages in order to combat economic collapse. As many businesses and social aspects of daily life shift towards digital communications, big tech companies are actually set to profit from increased usage. As of April 2020, the highly influential "FAAMG" tech companies, Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and Alphabet (Google), have pledged a total of 1.25 billion U.S. dollars in support of various entities. In total, Alphabet pledged 575 million U.S. dollars worth of Google ad credits, NGO investment funds, and cash grants towards small businesses, making it the most substantial contribution among the Big Five.
