Italian households facing issues with rent payments due to COVID-19 2020

COVID-19 restriction measures, implemented during the Spring of 2020, took a serious toll on the Italian economy. Many families found themselves with less money available for their basic needs. A survey conducted in May 2020 investigated whether households were going to face issues with rent payments in the following months. Slightly less than half of the respondents, 44 percent, declared they would probably not have any of these issues. Another 15 percent was sure they would not face this economic problem. On the other hand, nine percent of the respondents declared they would definitely have some kind of issues with mortgages, while as much as 32 percent reported this eventuality as likely, but not sure.
