Italian households facing issues to pay mortgages due to COVID-19 2020

COVID-19 restriction measures, implemented during the Spring of 2020, took a serious toll on the Italian economy. Many families found themselves with less money available for their basic needs. A survey conducted in May 2020 investigated whether households were going to face issues with mortgage payments in the following months. Almost half of the respondents, 46 percent, declared they would probably not have any of these issues. Another 19 percent was sure they would not face this economic problem. On the other hand, 11 percent of the respondents declared they would definitely have some kind of issues with mortgages, while 22 percent reported this eventuality as likely, but not sure.
