The highest tax evasion share in the official GDP in Romania was registered in 1990, totaling 3.7 percent. After a decreasing period which lasted more than ten years, the share of tax evasion reached its second maximum in 2009, specifically 2.84 percent. By 2017, the percentage dropped to 1.68.
