Approximately one fifth of Russians planned to take part in the Victory Day parade commemorating the 75th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II in 2020. In that year, the celebrations took place in the country on June 24 instead of May 9 as was postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. June 24 marks the date of the victory parade held in the Soviet Union in 1945.
