According to a survey from 2019, some 2.3 percent of surveyed pet owners had a small rodent other than a hamster or a ferret. More specifically, data refer to people who owned a small rodent and brought it to the veterinarian at least once. Between 2007 and 2019, the share of animal owners who had a small rodent such as guinea pigs, squirrels, mice, and others slightly decreased.
