Online purchases surged during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and would likely to remain as a new norm later in Taiwan. According to a survey on online shopping behavior in Taiwan conducted by Rakuten Insight in May 2020, 91 percent of the respondents aged between 45 and 54 years who had purchased online more frequently during the pandemic said they would continue to do so after businesses are open and social distancing measures are lifted.

Do you think you would continue purchasing the items that you bought more frequently during the pandemic online even after businesses are open and social distancing measures are lifted?
The question was asked among 5,861 female and 4,102 male online shoppers.
The survey was conducted among
1,179 respondents aged 16 to 24 years,
3,519 respondents aged 25 to 34 years,
3,314 respondents aged 35 to 44 years,
1,426 respondents aged 45 to 54 years and
525 respondents aged 55 years and older.
