Ecuador: inflow and outflow of Venezuelan migrants 2014-2020

In 2020 there were more departures than arrivals of Venezuelan migrants in Ecuador. For the first time since at least 2014, the net inflow of Venezuelan nationals in Ecuador was negative, as the number of departures exceeded the quantity of arrivals for over 5,100 in that period. In the past decade, the number of arrivals of Venezuelan citizens in Ecuador reached its peak at almost 956,000 in 2018. However, many Venezuelans travel through Ecuador to reach other final destinations, such as Peru, which is the second leading destination of Venezuelan emigrants worldwide.
