Attitude to acceptability of violence against women India 2018 by social norms
In a survey conducted in 2018 about violence against women in India, a majority of respondents felt it was acceptable to harshly criticize or beat a woman if she left the house without permission. Other instances where this was perceived to be acceptable was failing to prepare meals for men in the family and failing to fetch water or firewood for the family.
