As of 2019, 100 percent of all middle school students in Italy studied English as a foreign language. In elementary school, the number of pupils learning English added up to 2.7 million, which accounted for 95.5 percent of all primary school students.
According to data from 2019, almost all students in Italy learned English in school. French and Spanish were the second and third most-taught foreign languages in Italian schools.
