Women's soccer clubs winning the Serie A in Italy 1986-2020

Which women’s soccer team has won the most championships in Italy? As of the season 2019/2020, the Sardinian club Torres Fo.S. won the highest number of Serie A championships, the highest league in Italian professional female soccer. This club from Sassari won a total of seven titles, of which the most recent one in the 2012/2013 season. Juventus won in 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. The 2019/2020 season, however, ended earlier due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and this title will not be assigned. Since 2008, the number of women playing soccer in Italy rose gradually. Similarly, the number of new memberships in youth women's soccer clubs peaked in the season 2019/2020. However, the gender breakdown of 11-a-side soccer players in Italy reveals a significant gap in terms of number of players, as men footballers accounted for roughly 97 percent of all 11-a-side soccer players in 2019/2020.
