Daily television viewing time in Belgium 2014-2020
French-language audiences in Belgium spend more time watching linear television, and the coronavirus led to a dramatic increase in television consumption. These are two conclusions based on the Belgian development of daily time spent watching television between 2014 and March 2020. There is little availability of this figures for the country as a whole, and when there is, it is mostly covering the two main language groups: the Dutch-speaking part in the northern region of Flanders and the French-speaking regions in the south, which include Wallonia and parts of the Brussels-Capital Region. French Belgians spend over three hours each day watching television, whereas their Dutch-language counterparts spend around 20 minutes less. The coronavirus pandemic, however, changed behavior in both regions, with Flanders especially seeing a big increase.
