During 2019, more than half a million second homes were bought in Spain. Andalusia was Spain's autonomous community where the highest number of these type of homes were purchased, with approximately 108 thousand homes during the year under review.
The Canary Islands registered the purchase of about 24.2 thousand second homes in 2019, of which 22.6 thousand were bought by residents of this region. The autonomous community of origin of the highest number of homebuyers other than Canarians was the Community of Madrid, which bought approximately one thousand second homes that year.
