In Norway, more men than women held a doctorate degree between 2014 and 2022. As of 2022, more than 27,000 Norwegian men and 21,00 Norwegian women had undertaken a doctorate degree. The numbers may come as a surprise as the number of female students in higher education in the country by far outnumbers the number of male students.
