In 1990, the transportation sector of the United States made no use of fluorinated gases. However, several years later, emissions from these gases increased to around 38.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. Fluorinated gases are generally used inside of products such as refrigerators, air conditioners, and aerosol cans.
