U.S. exported scrap to China 1994-2018
The amount of scrap commodities exported to China from the United States increased significantly in the last decades, from just seven million metric tons between 1994 and 1998, to around 104 million metric tons between 2009 and 2013. As China declared it would no longer accept certain waste materials such as mixed paper and consumer plastic, the volume exported notably declined in the period between 2014 and 2018.
