Belgium: SVOD penetration in Wallonia, by age 2019

French-speaking Belgians, aged 45 to 54, saw a big increase in their use of commercial streaming services like Netflix in 2019. This according to survey results that looked into online activities from individuals in Belgium and its three regions: Dutch-speaking Flanders, French-speaking Wallonia and the Brussels-Capital Region (the city of Brussels with its surrounding municipalities). The source does not explain why gaps exist for certain age groups. There was no data, for example, for the youngest age group in Wallonia in 2019. Nonetheless, the penetration rate among 45-to-54-year-olds in 2019 grew more than it did for 25-to-34-year-olds.

[Watch other online video material from commercial services (e.g. Netflix) on demand]. (In Belgian Dutch: "Voor welke van de volgende activiteiten gebruikte u tijdens de laatste drie maanden het internet om privéredenen?" [Op aanvraag kijken naar ander onlinevideomateriaal van commerciële diensten (bv. Netflix)], in French: "Au cours de ces trois derniers mois, parmi les activités suivantes sur l’Internet, lesquelles avez-vous effectuées à des fins privées?" [Regarder sur demande d’autres vidéos en ligne de services commerciaux Netflix p.ex.)]

The source does not mention why no numbers were given for 2017. The survey did return that year, but the question was not asked. In 2018, the source resumed the question. Additionally, no numbers exist from before 2016.
