In 2023, the production volume of eucalyptus wood amounted to around 123 thousand tons in Thailand, which accounted for the highest production volume among other timber products from the wood lot in the country. This was followed by teak wood. 

Forest area in Thailand

Thailand has roughly one-third of forest area as a share of the total land area. Forest areas are predominantly located in the mountainous region in northern and western Thailand. In 2022, the forest area in the northern region amounted to more than 60 percent of the total forest area in Thailand.

Thai wood trade

In 2023, the value of fiberboard exports from Thailand amounted to approximately 29.5 billion Thai baht. This was followed by wood in chips or particles. In that year, almost five billion kilograms of wood in chips or particles were exported from Thailand. The leading wood products imported to Thailand were pulpwood and wood charcoals. Consequently, these two products were among the wood products imported into Thailand with the highest value in 2023.
