Belgium: online video in Flanders, by gender 2019

Flemish women were increasingly likely to use online video sharing services such as YouTube in 2019. This conclusion was drawn from survey results that looked into online activities from individuals in Belgium and its three regions: Dutch-speaking Flanders, French-language Wallonia and the Brussels-Capital Region (the city of Brussels with its surrounding villages). The penetration rate of YouTube and similar services grew with five percentage points among the female respondents between 2018 and 2019. In contrast, the share of Flemish men using online video material services remained unchanged.

This question was phrased by the source as follows: "For which of the following activities did you use the Internet for private reasons in the last three months?" [To watch other online video material from video sharing services (e.g. YouTube)]. (In Belgian Dutch: "Voor welke van de volgende activiteiten gebruikte u tijdens de laatste drie maanden het internet om privéredenen?" [Kijken naar onlinevideomateriaal van diensten die videomateriaal delen (bv. YouTube)], in French: "Au cours de ces trois derniers mois, parmi les activités suivantes sur l’Internet, lesquelles avez-vous effectuées à des fins privées?" [Regarder d’autres vidéos en ligne de services de partage de vidéos (YouTube p.ex.)]

The source does not mention why no numbers were given for 2017. The survey did return that year, but the question was not asked. In 2018, the source resumed the question. Additionally, no numbers exist from before 2016.
