Share of new and used mini passenger cars in Japan FY 2013-2023
According to a survey conducted in 2023 about the usage of light motor vehicles among private households and businesses in Japan, the majority of mini passenger car owners had purchased new cars, while 38 percent had bought them secondhand. Japanese mini cars or kei cars are vehicles shorter than 3.4 meters with a maximum height of 2 meters and a maximum width of 1.48 meters. The engine capacity is restricted to 0.66 liters.
