According to a survey by Rakuten Insight on panic buying after the coronavirus outbreak in April 2020, around 15.4 percent of South Korean respondents said they had engaged in panic buying. The main reason people bought goods in bulk was they were afraid supermarkets or shops would run out of certain items soon.
