According to a survey by Rakuten Insight on panic buying after the coronavirus outbreak, 67 percent of Singaporean respondents aged 55 years and older felt safe after stockpiling on items. In the same survey, 84 percent of respondents indicated that they had not engaged in panic buying because of the coronavirus pandemic, while 16 percent of respondents did.

The survey was conducted among 544 female and 402 male respondents.
The survey was conducted among
111 respondents aged 16 to 24 years,
355 respondents aged 25 to 34 years,
301 respondents aged 35 to 44 years,
134 respondents aged 45 to 54 years and
45 respondents aged 55 years and older.
Other surveyed countries included China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Taiwan.
