According to a survey by Rakuten Insight on panic buying after the coronavirus outbreak, 93 percent of Singaporean respondents aged 55 years and older stated that they had not engaged in panic buying because of the coronavirus pandemic. In the same survey, the majority of respondents who did not engage in panic buying indicated that they trusted supermarkets to have enough supplies.

The survey was conducted among 3,388 female and 2,494 male respondents.
The survey was conducted among
955 respondents aged 16 to 24 years,
1,770 respondents aged 25 to 34 years,
1,557 respondents aged 35 to 44 years,
948 respondents aged 45 to 54 years and
652 respondents aged 55 years and older.
Other surveyed countries included China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Taiwan.
