Meanwhile, the number of students from western countries increased steadily over the time period, reaching over 3,700 in 2023. The total number of students in upper secondary schools in Denmark decreased since 2017, mainly because the number of students with a Danish origin dropped from nearly 133,000 in 2017 to less than 122,000 in 2023.
