Most used marketplaces by e-commerce companies in Italy 2023

The most used online marketplace by Italian e-commerce companies was Amazon, according to the results of a survey conducted in 2023, chosen by 34 percent of the companies surveyed. eBay came second, chosen by 18 percent of the firms. Overall, e-commerce companies in Italy generated approximately 23 percent of their revenues on online marketplaces.

Amazon dominates the market

Approximately 35.7 million unique users, almost one in two Italian inhabitants, visited the Amazon platform in the first quarter of 2023. Furthermore, the percentage of online users shopping on Amazon was the highest in Italy, if compared to consumers from other European countries. The impressive figures showcase the marketplace’s popularity in Italy.

Taking customer experience to the next level

Amazon’s good reputation in Italy is due to the satisfying customer experience the company provides. In a 2023 survey, Italian consumers rated Amazon’s broad product offering with a score of 7.3 out of 10, while product convenience was the second-most important advantage shoppers mentioned.
