According to a survey by Rakuten Insight on panic buying after the coronavirus outbreak, 94 percent of Indonesian respondents aged between 45 to 55 years stated that they stocked up on dry food items such as rice, noodles, pasta and flour. In the same survey, 77 percent of respondents indicated that they had not engaged in panic buying because of the coronavirus pandemic, while 23 percent of respondents did.

Original question: What items did you stock up on?
The survey was conducted among 1,630 female and 1,036 male respondents.
The survey was conducted among
507 respondents aged 16 to 24 years,
1,189 respondents aged 25 to 34 years,
705 respondents aged 35 to 44 years,
200 respondents aged 45 to 54 years and
65 respondents aged 55 years and older.
Other surveyed countries included China, Hong Kong, India, Vietnam, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan.
