The number of active customers of grocery delivery and pickup in the United States has surged in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. In August 2019, there were 16.1 million customers, which grew to 39.5 million in March of 2020, a 146 percent increase. The number of customers grew an additional 15 percent between March and June before dropping again by 15 percent in November 2020, ultimately reaching 38.7 million customers.
