In a survey conducted in the Asia Pacific region in 2020, regarding the share of respondents who believed the COVID-19 outbreak would cause an economic recession, 84 percent of the respondents in Australia stated that there would be an economic recession due to the coronavirus. In comparison, 70 percent of respondents in China stated the same.
