According to a survey by Rakuten Insight on panic buying after the coronavirus outbreak, 80 percent of respondents aged 55 years and older stated that they had not engaged in panic buying because of the coronavirus pandemic. Moreover, the majority of respondents who did not engage in panic buying indicated that they trusted supermarkets to have enough supplies.

8,259 respondents aged 16 to 24 years,
6,888 respondents aged 25 to 34 years,
3,070 respondents aged 35 to 44 years,
1,073 respondents aged 45 to 54 years and
612 respondents aged 55 years and older.
