In 2023, the total transaction value of announced company takeovers with participation of companies from Greater China (including only deals with disclosed deal value figures) amounted to around 333 billion U.S. dollars. This was a decrease of 28 percent compared to the previous year. The total number of announced M&A deals with participation of companies from Greater China amounted to nearly 8,563 in 2023.

Included in the given figures are domestic corporate takeovers by companies from mainland China, Macau and Hong Kong in Greater China, overseas takeovers by companies in mainland China and Hong Kong, as well as takeovers by foreign companies in Greater China. From 2019 on, company takeovers in Taiwan are also included. Only deals with disclosed deal value figures are included.
