Medal count by country in the Men's Discus Throw at the Summer Olympics 1896-2020

The Men's Discus Throw has been included in all Summer Olympics since the inaugural games in 1896. Since then, athletes from the United States have been the most successful in this event, winning 13 gold medals and 35 overall medals; however, U.S. athletes have not won a medal in this event since 1984. The most successful athlete in this event is the U.S.' Al Oerter, who won four consecutive golds between 1956 and 1968. The winner of the event in 2004, Hungary's Róbert Fazekas, is the only athlete to have been stripped of a medal in this event, after he failed to provide a test sample; the gold went to Lithuania's Virgilijus Alekna instead, who is the event's most successful competitor in the past few decades.
